Institute is starting again!

This Wednesday January 4, at 7:00pm.
Classes offered:
                          Doctrine and Covenants- part 2
                          Presidents of the Church

Come to Institute

"If you are a single college student, I ask you to make participation in institute a priority. Married students and other young adults are also welcome and encouraged to attend. Think of it. Friends will be made, the Spirit will be felt, and faith will be strengthened. I promise you that as you participate in institute and study the scriptures diligently, your power to avoid temptation and to receive direction of the Holy Ghost in all you do will be increased. Divine favor will attend those who humbly seek it. That is a promise which I leave with you."

The true joy of Christmas is in the everlasting love of Christ. To keep that joy:

“…feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” 2 Nephi 32:3

Wishing you a joyous Christmas and blessings in the coming New Year.

Tithing Settlement

November 28, 2011

Dear Kolob YSA Members,

As we near the end of the 2011 calendar year, it is time for our ward to hold our Annual Tithing Settlement.  The Church Handbook of Instructions states, “All members should attend tithing settlement to make sure their contribution records are correct and to declare to the bishop their status as tithe payers.  If possible, all members of the family should attend tithing settlement.”

Accordingly, I would like to invite you to come and meet with me and declare your status as a tithe payer.  To make it possible for each member of our ward to attend tithing settlement, we have posted a schedule on the bishop’s door of available time spots.  The schedule for this year’s Tithing Settlement will be all day Saturday, December 10th.  Once you sign up please arrive a few minutes early to help us remain on schedule.

As a reminder, when a  member does not attend tithing settlement and declare his/her tithing status, then I, as their Bishop, must state for Church records whether I  feel they are a full, part or a non tithe payer.  This then becomes the official record of the Church.

Prior to meeting with me, you will have the opportunity to review your Individual Ordinance Summary as well as update your profile in the Church Directory which will include the taking of your picture.

If for some reason you are unable to attend on the schedule day of December 10th, please call or text our Ward Clerk, Brother Arden Hjorth at 801.369.1848 to arrange a different time.

In light of the number of YSA’s in our ward, the time for each tithing settlement appointment is necessarily limited.  If you have additional matters that you need to discuss with me, I invite you to call or text our Executive Secretary, Brother Brad Critchfield 801.368.5874 to schedule a separate time to meet when we can have more time.

Thank you for your continued devotion to the gospel.  I look forward to meeting with you as we conclude the year.

Warm Regards,

Bishop Karl P. Lifferth
